Brembo implies they created the McLaren P1's Carbon Ceramic Brakes on its Instagram, but the brakes are made by Akebono.

I also knew that the P1 uses akebono brakes.

I only know this because each and every reporter on the P1 can't stop repeating Akebono which admittedly sounds funny. 'Akebono'. 'Akebono'. It even types funny. Akebono.

I also think McLaren took the easy way out when not giving the P1 regen braking. Regen braking is less energy wasted, and more energy available for going faster. The TheFerrari and the 918 have regen braking and those systems work perfectly fine, although I can't imagine how much of a bitch they were to finetune.
